Born and raised in the tough industrial area of Middlesbrough, Mick began playing guitar at the age of 12 after seeing Ritchie Blackmore with Deep Purple on Top Of The Pops. After that all that existed was the guitar. Numerous guitars and bands followed finally he got a break with Axis. They released a single on Neat Records and toured around England. The NWOBHM was happening, exciting times ahead.
Another local band White Spirit had just moved to London. Janick Gers their guitarist at the time left to join Ian Gillan and the band now needed a new guitarist. He remembers at the time thinking if I get the job I am going to have to leave Middlesbrough and all my friends and family, it was a big move. He went for the audition and joined the band.
White Spirit began touring around the South of England, they demoed an album's worth of material for Warner Bros but unfortunately split up. Now Mick was alone in London with no band, he began scouring the ads in Melody Maker. Eight weeks later one ad caught his eye "International famous band require guitar player" it was in really small print, not one of the big box ads, He called and received a date for an audition.
He arrived at the rehearsal studio not knowing who the band was and really curious ENTER TANK.
